Hide Admin menu based on user roles
The Hide Admin Menu Based on User Roles feature in WP Adminify allows administrators to customize the visibility of menu items in the WordPress admin panel based on the user’s role. This functionality is particularly useful for streamlining the admin experience for different types of users, ensuring they only see the options that are relevant to them.
How to Hide Admin Menu Items Based on User Roles
Select one or more roles from the list. The menu item will be hidden from all users with the selected roles.
1. Accessing the Admin Menu Editor
- Navigate to the Admin Menu section of WP Adminify from the WordPress dashboard.
- Ensure you are in the Menu Editor tab, which lists all the available admin menu items.
2. Selecting a Menu Item
- Identify the menu item you want to hide for specific user roles. Click on the item to expand its customization options.
3. Using the "Hidden For Rules" Feature
- Within the expanded menu item options, locate the Hidden For Rules field. This field allows you to specify the user roles for which the selected menu item should be hidden.
- Selecting User Roles:
a. Click on the Hidden For Rules dropdown. This will present a list of all user roles available in your WordPress installation (e.g., Administrator, Editor, Author, Contributor, Subscriber).
b. Select one or more roles from the list. The menu item will be hidden from all users with the selected roles.
Important Notes
- Role Hierarchy Considerations: Keep in mind the hierarchy and capabilities associated with different user roles. For instance, hiding an item from Editors does not automatically hide it from Administrators unless specified.
- Testing Visibility: After configuring hidden menu items, it’s a good practice to log in as a user with the affected roles to ensure the settings are applied correctly and that the menu items are appropriately hidden.
The "Hide Admin Menu Based on User Roles" feature in WP Adminify lets administrators control menu visibility for different user roles. It improves security and usability by showing users only the tools they need. This creates a more user-friendly and secure WordPress environment.
