Remove WordPress generator version from frontend
The Header Security feature in WP Adminify allows you to remove the WordPress generator version from the front end of your website. This feature improves security by preventing attackers from easily identifying the version of WordPress you’re using, reducing the chances of your site being targeted by known vulnerabilities.
Follow these steps to remove the WordPress generator version:
1. Access the Header Security Settings
From the WordPress Dashboard:
- Navigate to WP Adminify > Security > Header Security from the menu.
2. Enable Header Security Feature
Make sure the Header Security feature is enabled by toggling the Show button to green.
3. Remove WordPress Generator Version
In the Header Security settings, you’ll find several security options. To remove the WordPress generator version from your site's frontend:
- Check the box next to Remove WordPress Generator Version.
This option hides the WordPress version meta tag that is typically included in the head section of your site's HTML source. It makes it harder for hackers to identify which version of WordPress you're running.
4. Save Changes
After selecting the option to remove the WordPress generator version, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page to apply the update.
5. Verify the Changes
To confirm that the WordPress generator version has been removed:
- Open your website in a browser and inspect the source code (right-click the page and select View Page Source).
Look for the WordPress generator tag (<meta name="generator" content="WordPress X.X.X" />). It should no longer be present in the source code.
