How to remove unwanted Sidebar Widgets?

WP Adminify's Widget Removal feature allows you to declutter your WordPress site by removing unnecessary sidebar widgets. This is especially useful when you want to streamline your site's user experience or reduce the available options in the WordPress widgets area.

This guide will walk you through how to remove unwanted sidebar widgets using WP Adminify.

1. Access Widget Removal Settings

To begin removing unwanted sidebar widgets:

  • Navigate to your WordPress dashboard.
  • Go to WP Adminify > Productivity > Widget Removal.

2. Select Sidebar Widgets

Once in the Widget Removal settings page:

  • Select the Sidebar Widgets tab.
  • You'll see a list of all the available widgets that you can remove from your sidebar.

3. How to disable Gutenberg Editor for Widgets? (For those who prefer the Classic Editor)

Widgets do not apply to Gutenberg as it deals mostly with blocks. This is why WP Adminify also allows you to disable the Gutenberg editor for widgets, making the widget management experience simpler for those who prefer the classic editor.

  • Toggle the Disable Gutenberg Editor for Widgets option to YES if you prefer to use the classic editor for widgets.
  • As soon as you disable the Gutenberg editor, you'll see a list of all the available widgets that you can remove from your sidebar.

4. Disable Unwanted Sidebar Widgets

From the list of sidebar widgets:

  • Simply check the boxes next to the widgets you wish to remove.
  • For example, if you don’t want to display the Tag Cloud or Recent Comments widgets, check their respective boxes.

5. Save Changes

After selecting the widgets you wish to remove:

  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  • Click Save Changes to apply the settings.

Once saved, the selected widgets will no longer appear in the available options when managing sidebar widgets on your site.

6. Verify Widget Removal

To confirm that the widgets have been removed:

  • Navigate to Appearance > Widgets in the WordPress dashboard.

Check the Sidebar Widgets section to ensure that the unwanted widgets are no longer available.
