Remove Version Strings
WordPress automatically appends version numbers to styles and scripts for cache-busting purposes. However, in some cases, removing these version numbers can improve performance and security by preventing the exposure of your WordPress version. WP Adminify’s Performance Enhancements feature offers an option to remove versions from styles and scripts. Here’s how you can do this easily using WP Adminify.
1. Access the Performance Enhancements Feature in WP Adminify
To begin, log in to your WordPress dashboard:
- Navigate to WP Adminify > Performance > Performance Enhancements.
2. Enable the Performance Enhancements Feature
Make sure the Performance Enhancements feature is activated:
- Toggle the switch to Show (it should turn green).
- Once enabled, you will see various options for performance improvements.
3. Select the Option to Remove Versions from Styles/Scripts
Scroll down to find the option labeled Remove Versions from Styles/Scripts:
- Check the box next to this option to remove version numbers from all enqueued styles and scripts.
4. Save Your Changes
Once you’ve selected the option to remove version numbers:
- Scroll down and click the Save Changes button to apply your new settings.
5. Verify the Version Removal
To verify that versions have been removed:
- Visit your site’s front-end and inspect the source code.
- Check the URLs of the CSS and JS files to ensure they no longer contain version numbers.
